Welcome, Chris & Kaitlin!
It’s been a year chock full of transition around here, and as such, we figured we’d keep you in the loop with some of the latest staffing changes that have taken place. This past summer, we welcomed Chris “Deano” Dean and Kaitlin “Jinkies” Dean into the year-round Cascades family. But Chris and Kaitlin are far from camp rookies – you might recognize them from their years of service a while back, both on summer staff and as year-round interns.
Chris has officially been with us since mid-summer – pulling double-duty as our new Food Services Manager while simultaneously wrapping up his Culinary Arts degree at Seattle Culinary Academy. Originally from Texas, Chris loves all things barbecue, and is excited to experiment with smoking different kinds of food in his new role. It’s also worth noting that while he’s been coming to Cascades for more than 10 years, Chris has NEVER ridden a horse. (We might have to change that, Chris.)
Kaitlin joined us in early September and is paving the way as Cascades’ very first Grounds Specialist – putting her green thumb and degree in horticulture to good use as she schemes and dreams about greenhouses, ways to integrate some of her knowledge and experience into our programs for campers, beautifying our grounds, and much more. When asked what kind of plant she would describe herself as, Kaitlin replied, “A perennial, because I just keep coming back [to camp]!” Chris and Kaitlin originally met and got engaged at Cascades, so their history truly is rooted in this place. (Okay, okay – enough plant jokes!)
We couldn’t be more excited and grateful that the Deans have answered God’s call to ministry here at Cascades. Join us is welcoming them!
